What happens if their physician refers a beneficiary to a specialist that does not accept their managed care plan?



This should not happen if the physician follows the plan's referral instructions. In-network referrals will occur between primary and specialty care providers and some will require prior authorization by the plan. For assistance with referrals, members should contact their plan.
