The building and grounds office is responsible for the overall security of DHHS facility, staff and property. It is also responsible for managing the assignment and reassignment of parking spaces for DHHS staff. This office works closely with DHHS' landlords, in particular, Wilson Kibler and Professional Realty, Inc. (PRI).
Maintains Building Access Control System. The office maintains building security at the Jefferson Square complex and the Klondike building using an access control system, kaba key control system, video surveillance, and security officers.
Workplace Security/Workplace Violence Policy and Procedures. The office is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing policies that prevent internal or external theft of information or materials, as well as preventing violence of any sort from occurring either between co-workers or from a non-employee to an employee. The agencies Workplace Security and Workplace Violence Policy are located on the intranet.
Courses: The Office of Building and Grounds offers the following courses:
Defensive Driving Course: This is a free eight-hour agency sponsored course that provides drivers with knowledge and safe driving techniques to prevent collisions and violations.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Course: This is a free eight-hour agency sponsored course that introduces supervisors/human service providers to crisis prevention that emphasizes early intervention and nonphysical methods for preventing or managing disruptive behavior. Personal safety techniques are included.
Workplace Violence Training: This training is free and is offered by OSHA. Training focuses on identifying behaviors that could reasonably be interpreted as intent to cause harm to another person.
Agency Recycling Management (Coordination). The office oversees the recycling program for the agency. It coordinates with Iron Mountain Inc., who picks up and shreds material authorized for recycling.
