The Civil Rights Coordinator conducts civil rights reviews and ensures compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504, American with Disabilities Act Age Discrimination of 1975, and Civil Rights compliance and enforcement for the Department of Health and Human Services providers, vendors and clients. Develops policies and procedures for effectively monitoring individual program areas to insure compliance with Civil Rights Statutes.

The Civil Rights Coordinator Office handles all Civil Rights matters such as:

  • Conducts annual on-site field reviews of agency contractors and providers to ascertain compliance with Civil Rights laws and regulations. Identify non-compliance issues and prepares appropriate recommendations and corrective action plans
  • Conducts complaint investigations of discrimination against any person who is Medicaid eligible by any provider of service
  • Develops a process for investigating complaints and monitoring corrective action plans for compliance
  • Interviews and provides presentations to minority, or other grassroots organizations to identify problem areas
