South Carolina State Medicaid Plan
Medicaid is free health insurance available to many people in South Carolina. If approved, an applicant is covered for a broad range of services.
Who can apply for Medicaid?
Anyone can apply. The are many programs available, most can be applied for at the same time by completing one application.
Program Overviews:
- Coverage for pregnant women
- Coverage for women diagnosed with breast and/or cervical cancer
- Coverage for the aged, blind or disabled
- Coverage for low income families
- Coverage for children (State Children's Health Insurance Program or State CHIP)
- Coverage for disabled children (TEFRA or "Katie Beckett")
- Coverage for people in the hospital or nursing home for an extended period of time
- A program to help recipients of Medicare (a Federal health insurance program), pay for their Medicare Part "B" Premium
