Effective July 1, 2010, the GAP Assistance Pharmacy Program for Seniors program will no longer be available due to lack of state funds. This program provided assistance with Medicare Part D drug coverage when enrollees reached the coverage gap (sometimes called the "donut hole").

The recent Affordable Care Act (Health Care Reform) provides assistance for prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries. This includes a one-time $250 rebate check when individuals reach the coverage gap.
