SCDHHS Announces New Deputy Director

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) is proud to announce that Dr. Peter (Pete) Liggett will be the new Deputy Director for Long Term and Behavioral Health starting February 11, 2013. Sam Waldrep, currently in this position, will step down after serving in this capacity for two years and working at the state for 33 years. Waldrep will remain a part of the executive management team acting as a senior advisor starting March 4th assisting with special projects and serving as a technical consultant to the Duals Demonstration Project.

SCDHHS announces new members of its fiscal team

 

COLUMBIA, S.C.— The South Carolina Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) announced Thursday the addition of two new positions to its Fiscal Affairs division, completing an overhaul of the way the agency manages the state’s $6 billion a year Medicaid budget.

SCDHHS Director Anthony Keck named to national Medicaid board

 

COLUMBIA, S.C.— South Carolina Health and Human services Director Anthony Keck has been named to serve on the board of the National Association of Medicaid Directors (NAMD) representing the Southern region.

“I’m honored to be selected to the NAMD board,” said Keck, who was appointed SCDHHS director by Gov. Nikki R. Haley in January 2011. “My goal is to ensure South Carolina has a strong voice in important national policy discussions about how to get better value out of the Medicaid program.”

SCDHHS appoints CFO to oversee state Medicaid budget

 

COLUMBIA, S.C.— The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) announced today the appointment of Ruth Johnson to serve as the agency’s new chief financial officer (CFO). Reporting to the Director, her responsibilities will include financial management of the state’s $5.5 billion Medicaid program, which serves more than 1 million low-income, elderly and disabled South Carolinians. She begins work July 9 after moving her family to Columbia.
