Adjusting Your Enhanced Physicians ACA Attestation Period

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has implemented policy to assist providers who have attested for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Enhanced Physician Program.  Some providers may need to terminate the effective dates of inclusion into this program, effective January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2014.  The following are two instances where a provider may need to end his/her enrollment.

  •  If the Provider is currently enrolled in the Enhanced Physician reimbursement program and now wishes to attest as a pediatric subspecialist with SCDHHS.  The provider must end his attestation/enrollment with the ACA Enhanced Physician reimbursement program. Once the provider ends his participation in the Enhanced Physician reimbursement program and is now enrolled as a pediatric subspecialist, the provider would receive reimbursement at the pediatric subspecialty rate.
  • If the Provider no longer meets the qualifications to remain in the program.  This may include no longer meeting board certification requirements because the provider did not renew his/her certification.

If a provider needs to end their ACA Enhanced Physician reimbursement attestation they must contact the Provider Service Center.  Please make certain that you indicate in which month to end the attestation.  Attestations can only be ended on the last day of a month.  For example, if you contact the Provider Service Center and ask for a March termination the effective date will be March 31st.

This bulletin applies to fee-for-service, medical homes networks (MHN’s) and Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s). If you have any questions regarding this bulletin or need to end your ACA Enhanced Physician payment attestation, please contact the Provider Service Center at (888) 289-0709. Thank you for your continued support of the South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid Program.
