SCDHHS Director Anthony Keck named to national Medicaid board

COLUMBIA, S.C.— South Carolina Health and Human services Director Anthony Keck has been named to serve on the board of the National Association of Medicaid Directors (NAMD) representing the Southern region.

“I’m honored to be selected to the NAMD board,” said Keck, who was appointed SCDHHS director by Gov. Nikki R. Haley in January 2011. “My goal is to ensure South Carolina has a strong voice in important national policy discussions about how to get better value out of the Medicaid program.”

NAMD is a bipartisan, professional, nonprofit organization of representatives of state Medicaid agencies. Twelve elected Medicaid directors serve as members to the NAMD board. The organization advocates on a national level for Medicaid policies that are compatible with state needs and also offers technical support and education to its members. Areas of recent focus include eligibility and access, health information technology, care management, and delivery systems and payment reform.
