Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part C Program (BabyNet) Updates

PROVIDER ALERT

BRIDGES Service Code Training Webinar Recording Available

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) held a training webinar on Aug. 22 to explain previously announced changes to some BabyNet Reporting & Intervention Data Gathering Electronic System (BRIDGES) billing codes related to services provided through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C program, commonly known as "BabyNet." During the webinar, BabyNet staff answered questions and demonstrated how service coordinators will update each child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) to accurately document services and payor sources on planned services. The webinar described how providers will request updates if the procedure codes they need to bill are not on the child's planned services. The recording is available here on the BabyNet website.

Reminder: BabyNet Referrals Transitioning to Web Referral Portal

Effective Sept. 1, 2019, BabyNet referrals must be made via the agency's online portal, which is available at babynet.scdhhs.gov, or by phone at (866) 512-8881. Transitioning to the online referral portal and away from email and fax referrals will provide a single, secure electronic referral location that will improve standardization and streamline processing. It will also improve engagement with the referral process by allowing referrals to be made 24 hours per day and providing immediate feedback on referral status and next steps.

BabyNet and Medicaid Integration Frequently Asked Questions Updated

SCDHHS has updated the BabyNet and Healthy Connections Medicaid integration frequently asked questions (FAQ) page with answers to questions about claims payment and reconciling BabyNet payments. The agency has also updated the provider outreach page on the BabyNet website with helpful resources. While not addressed on the FAQ page, the agency has received several questions about IFSP regeneration and BRIDGES' availability over Labor Day weekend; BRIDGES will be available over the holiday weekend. Additional updates to the FAQ page will be highlighted in future Medicaid alerts.

Thank you for your continued support of the South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid and BabyNet programs.
