Bryan Amick


Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer

Bryan Amick is the chief strategy and innovation officer for the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, he is charged with developing innovative solutions to improve health outcomes while ensuring proper stewardship of taxpayer funds within South Carolina’s Medicaid program.

Amick joined SCDHHS in 2013 and has served in several positions including as the agency’s pharmacy director, as the director of clinical quality and population health and as deputy director for health programs. Prior to serving at SCDHHS, Amick worked as the director of specialty pharmacy for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. He has also worked in pharmacy settings in communities, long-term care facilities and hospitals.

Amick earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina and holds master’s degrees in health economics and business administration. Amick is also active in a number of professional organizations and has served as a member of the board of directors for the South Carolina Pharmacy Association, as a peer reviewer for several professional journals, and as a grant reviewer.
