Dr. Michael Psikogios


Deputy Director for the Office of Health Programs

and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Michael Psikogios is the deputy director for the Office of Health Programs and chief medical officer for the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Psikogios joined the agency as the chief medical officer in August 2019 from Florida where he was a traditional internist in a clinic and hospital-based practice for more than 20 years. More recently, he served as associate medical director, during which he worked with an accountable care organization, Humana, on their Medicare Advantage plan.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Mississippi, received a medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his residency at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Psikogios is board certified in internal medicine.
