Proposed Action Regarding Disease Management Services

PUBLIC NOTICE: 
SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) gives notice of the following proposed action regarding disease management services.
Effective for service dates on or after May 1, 2014, SCDHHS proposes to amend the Title XIX State Plan to add Sickle Cell Disease Management Services.  
 
SCDHHS proposes to make this change to improve the quality of life and address the healthcare needs of the Medicaid population of South Carolina.  Services will be available to beneficiaries diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and direct services will be provided by enrolled Disease Management Organizations (DMO) specializing in the management of Sickle Cell Disease.
 
SCDHHS projects that upon implementation of the proposed action noted above, annual aggregate Medicaid fee for service expenditures will not be impacted as this action represents a change in the Medicaid services that were previously delivered to this patient population.
