Public Notice of Proposed Action for the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) Rate Increase
The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), pursuant to the requirements of Section 1902(a)(13)(A) of the Social Security Act, gives notice of the following proposed action regarding its methods and standards for setting payments for the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs) under the State Plan under Title XIX of the Social Security Act Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid).
Effective for services provided on or after April 1, 2022, SCDHHS proposes to reimburse all contracting Medicaid PRTFs $500 per patient day for services provided to South Carolina Medicaid-eligible children. SCDHHS is making the proposed change in order to address the impact of market forces surrounding the SC Medicaid PRTF Program.
SCDHHS projects that based upon the proposed action, annual aggregate Medicaid fee for service expenditures will increase by approximately three million ($3,000,000) total dollars.
