Public Notice of Final Actions for Dental Fee Schedule Rate Increase

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS), pursuant to the requirements of Section 1902(a)(13)(A) of the Social Security Act, gives notice of the following actions regarding its methods and standards for setting payment rates for Dental services under the State Plan under Title XIX of the Social Security Act Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid).

Effective for services provided on or after July 1, 2017, the SCDHHS will amend the South Carolina Title XIX State Plan to increase reimbursement rates for dental exam codes, preventive dental codes, oral surgery codes and ancillary codes. These rates are being increased to more closely align with the usual and customary dental fees for South Carolina dentists.

SCDHHS projects that based upon this action, expenditures will increase by approximately $13 million total dollars.
