SCAM ALERT

Healthy Connections Medicaid team members and managed care plans will never ask for money, gift cards or something else of monetary value via text, email or a phone call. If someone contacts you asking for something of monetary value to get or keep Medicaid coverage, please report it by contacting the Medicaid fraud hotline at (888) 364-3224 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by sending an email to FraudRes@scdhhs.gov.

Policy Changes to RBHS, LIP, LEA and CMHC manuals

Effective with dates of service on or after July 1, 2018, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) will limit the billable units of crisis management to 80 units annually, unless otherwise prior authorized by SCDHHS. The daily limits outlined in the respective manuals will remain in place.

There may be clinical exceptions to the service limits when the number of encounters allowed may not be sufficient to meet the complex and intensive medical needs of a beneficiary. On these occasions, requests for frequencies beyond the service limits may be submitted directly to SCDHHS in accordance with the guidelines in the applicable provider manuals. These submissions may be securely emailed, in compliance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Medicaid Confidentiality rules, to behavioralhealth002@scdhhs.gov.

If you have any questions regarding this bulletin, please contact the Division of Behavioral Health at (803) 898-2565.

Thank you for your continued support of the South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid program.
