Public Notice of Final Action for Preventive Services
The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) gives notice of the following actions regarding preventive services under the State Plan under Title XIX of the Social Security Act Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid).
Effective on or after Oct. 1, 2023, SCDHHS will amend the South Carolina Title XIX State Plan to update preventive screening and immunization services to align with the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) grade A and B recommendations and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations. Additionally, SCDHHS will include the current reimbursement methodology for diagnostic, screening and vaccines under the Preventive Services section of the State Plan.
These changes are being made to comply with requirements to amend the preventative services benefit to add adult vaccination attestations. Based on the actions above, SCDHHS projects a budget impact of approximately $77,000 (total dollars) per year.
