SCAM ALERT

Healthy Connections Medicaid team members and managed care plans will never ask for money, gift cards or something else of monetary value via text, email or a phone call. If someone contacts you asking for something of monetary value to get or keep Medicaid coverage, please report it by contacting the Medicaid fraud hotline at (888) 364-3224 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by sending an email to FraudRes@scdhhs.gov.

Dental Providers

Effective for dates of service on and after Jan. 1, 2019, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) will limit reimbursement for moderate sedation or deep sedation/general anesthesia ("sedation services") in dental offices to providers with a sedation permit from the State Board of Dentistry. For sedation services in a dental office to be reimbursed, a valid dental sedation permit must be on file with DentaQuest, and both the authorized office location and administering provider must be clearly documented in the patient's record.

To receive reimbursement, qualified dental providers must complete sections 1, 2 and 4 of the DentaQuest Provider Update Form and include a copy of their sedation permit with their submission to DentaQuest via fax at (262) 241-4077 or email at standardupdates@dentaquest.com. The DentaQuest Provider Update form is located in the "Related Documents" section of the DentaQuest web portal, https://govservices.dentaquest.com/.

For questions regarding this bulletin, please contact the DentaQuest Provider Service Center at (888) 307-6553.

Thank you for your continued support of the South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid program.
