Effective July 1, 2017, the South Carolina Title XIX State Plan included covered autism spectrum disorder (ASD) services for medically-eligible individuals up to 21 years old.

These services are intended to provide medically-necessary and evidence-based behavioral and psychological treatment to individuals with a confirmed diagnosis of ASD. These services may be provided in the member's home, in their community, in their school or in a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF).
